Patient recruitment for clinical teaching

Thank you for your interest in the Rady School of Medicine Pediatric Clinical Skills Program.

University of Manitoba medical learners who are studying pediatrics learn how to interact with children and their caregivers. Under the supervision of a physician, learners meet with a parent/legal guardian and the child. The sessions usually consist of either a general or specialty assessment that may involve asking questions to you and your child and/or examining your child, just like in a doctor’s office. However, these sessions will not provide any direct medical care and are purely for medical education. The sessions vary in time from 1 hour to 4 hours.

Sessions occur throughout the year at the Basic Medical Science building (Brodie Centre, 727 McDermot Avenue), Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility (CLSF, also in Brodie Centre), or other sites within the Bannatyne Campus or HSC-Winnipeg Children’s Hospital.

Children / Guardians who attend the program as practice patients are eligible to receive $22/hr as payment.

An Educational Coordinator will be in contact to confirm your booking details and provide you with the location, date and time of your session. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
