The safety of our patients and families is of utmost importance at Children’s Hospital.
Patient safety is a priority at Children’s Hospital. We have a multidisciplinary quality improvement team at Children’s Hospital which is always working toward improving patient care through various initiatives. If you or your child observe a critical safety incident, please discuss this with your health care team. There are ways to report critical safety events to ensure they are appropriately investigated and addressed. Talk to your health care team to learn about the quality improvement initiatives underway at Children’s Hospital.
An important aspect of patient safety is infection prevention. At Children’s Hospital there we have an infection prevention and control team. This team ensures that patients and staff members are always protected. If your child has symptoms that may be contagious, you may see the health care team use special precautions such as a gown, gloves and eye protection. This is to ensure we keep all our patients safe. You can do your part by washing your hands regularly. There are hand sanitization stations throughout the hospital.
For your safety, cameras are located throughout the common areas and Security personnel patrol the buildings and grounds 24 hours per day. Distress alarm buttons are located in all parkades including the tunnels. The main security office is located in the Orange Bison Zone of Health Sciences Center on Level 2. If you have any concerns about safety or security please discuss with your health care team. If it is an urgent concern you can contact the security department 24 hours a day.
